Valentines Day + Arlington Milne Clutch giveaway

Happy bah-humbug Valentines Day! I hope that you all have been spoilt or if not spoilt then someone has at least given you a few kind words of appreciation. I personally am not big on the whole gift giving bullshit that comes with Hallmark moments like Valentines Day - but dammit a 'Happy Valentines Day' and a kiss would do. Heck even a slap on the arse and a wink says as much. But nada for me from hubby.

Am secretly hoping for a surprise of even stolen handpicked flowers from neighbours yard but I won't hold my breath. They forgot my birthday and mothers day last year. Lovely really! Maybe I'll buy myself some flowers and feign that they are from a secret admirer.

This would actually work - as a few weeks ago my Mum and Dad visited us and Mum bought me some flowers from Master 2 for being a 'good mummy'. I almost wept with the kindess and thoughfulness of it all. My dear Mummy has been there done that so she knows how thankless 'the job' can be. Anyway that week hubby was on night-shift so I hadn't seen him for a week - surprisingly he spotted the flowers and I got grilled about who they were from.

Never one to miss an opportunity to 'razz' him up I said that maybe if he'd been around more lately he'd know.... and 'never you mind - you don't know that person anyway'. It was too funny until he asked DSS (13yo) if any strange men had been visiting the house in his absence. I could have died from embarrassment!!!!

But - dear Hubby is a shit stirrer too and he knew all along they weren't from an 'admirer' he just had to 'up' me though. BASTARD.

Finally; I told him they were from my Mum and he said 'Why the eff would your Mum buy you flowers?' .... I said 'They're for being a good Mummy' .... 'Oh is that all?' he replied...... YES dear hubby that IS all.... I only hurt bits in a way that you'll never know, having our children and spent endless sleepless nights pacing the floors and caring for them when they're sick while you're out fishing..... that is all.

Anywho despite lack of romance in our household I hope some of you are having a lovely day and are feeling the love - if you aren't - buy a nice bottle of wine, make yourself some dinner, watch The Notebook and wallow in self-pity like I'll be doing tonight (LOL kidding).
